Eight track and field athletes from Turlock will compete at this week’s National Junior Olympics at Sacramento City College, with some of them having a good chance to finish in the top eight of their respective event and earn a medal.The prestigious event begins today and ends Sunday.The list begins with Walnut Elementary students and siblings Jarod (second grade) and Cerah Moren (sixth grade). Jarod will compete in the high jump, while Cerah is scheduled to participate in two events, the 4x400-meter relay and javelin.Kiana Clay, who enters seventh grade at Turlock Junior High, will compete in the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.The rest of the group is made up of Pitman High athletes: Bryan Rosales (hammer throw), Aaron Rollins (hammer throw), Ivan Delgado (shot put, javelin), Sean Donnelly (hammer throw, discus) and Erica Sickert (hammer throw, shot put).Clay and Cerah and Jarod Moren all compete for the Central Valley Roadrunners, while the others are part of Team Olympians in Turlock — though the organizations have a working relationship in which the coaches train each other’s athletes.
