Turlock High graduate Tommy Mendonca is making his mark with the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, as he was named Texas League Player of the Week.

Frisco third baseman Mendonca had at least one base hit and one RBI over the last seven days. During the week, he hit .485 (16-for-33) with a homer, 12 runs batted in, and 10 runs scored. He led the 'Riders to a 6-1 record.

Mendonca now boasts a season-long 35-game road on-base streak, which is the longest in the Texas League. Dating back to last season, the former second round pick has reached base safely in 41 consecutive road games.

In his first season of Double-A baseball, Mendonca leads the RoughRiders in batting average (.328), RBIs (55), and OPS (.965). He is also tied for first in doubles (19) and second in home runs (14).

Mendonca is no stranger to success. He gained national recognition for leading Fresno State to the 2008 College World Series title.
