That number of wins has already surpassed last season’s total.Against Merced, the Pride won 2-0 with production from all over the field.Janessa Guevara finished with 13 strikeouts, Jennifer Squires laid down a bunt to score Miranda Taylor on a squeeze play and, as second-year coach Cassie Sheppherd noted, “Pitman’s defense was unstoppable with no errors.”The Pride’s only two losses so far came in the Ceres High Tournament to Enochs High and Oakdale earlier this month, but they have beaten Division I teams like Modesto High while blowing out two teams by a combined score of 54-1.Pitman will continue league action on Tuesday at 4 p.m., when the Pride play at Atwater High.Sheppard has said that her Pride have “high expectations.” Pitman last successful season was in 2007, when the Pride went 11-11 overall and 7-5 in the CCC under then-coach Mike Harrold.
