The Turlock Quarterback Club is hosting its inaugural Alumni Fundraiser Dinner on Saturday with the hopes that former Bulldogs will flock to town to support the effort.
Club president James Rocha said years ago they used to have an overall sports booster dinner that he would attend and that's where he got the idea. Then he, along with the board, decided to try to do an alumni type booster dinner for the first time to benefit the Turlock Quarterback Club.
“We're hoping that this dinner is one of those fundraisers that we can hold where we can bring past players and Turlock High alum together and even parents whose kids are playing, to help raise funds,” said Rocha.
“We, as a quarterback club, raise funds to provide our kids with top-of-the-line equipment,” he continued.
Along with helmets, pads and jerseys, the club has also supplied the football team with drones so that coaches could film practices and use the footage to improve plays, multiple pop-up football blocking pads for practice and weekly team meals.
During the dinner the club will also honor Joe Fagundes. A 1963 Turlock High graduate, Fagundes was a loyal Bulldog, regularly attending Friday night football games, serving on the selection committee to induct former athletes to the Turlock High School Hall of Fame, and was a member of the Turlock Quarterback Club. Fagundes passed on Dec. 9, 2023.
The dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Turlock Ballroom. Tickets are $65 each and include a tri-tip and chicken dinner, open bar and musical entertainment. There will also be a live and silent auction. To purchase tickets, call James Rocha at 209-652-5962 or Luke Miller at 209-678-5183.
