The Pitman Pride found themselves in an all too familiar position on Friday night. At halftime against the Enochs Eagle of Modesto, they trailed 10-6. In their eight games this year, they have trailed at the half for six of those contests.
Come the second half, though, the Pride flipped the switch. As their defense held the Eagles scoreless for the last two quarters, the offense controlled the time of possession and scored 16 unanswered points en route to a 22-10 victory, their first in the Central California Athletic League this season.
Pitman’s senior quarterback Andrew Azevedo threw for a season-high 249 yards while completing 11 of 23 passes. He connected with junior Syncyr Sanders for a 35-yard score in the first half and with senior Kolten Pruitt 22-yard touchdown.
Azavedo was also effective with his legs, rushing for a 3-yard touchdown.
