Both Pitman’s boys and girls basketball teams, as well as both Turlock squads, had Sac-Joaquin Section play-in games on Monday, with only the Pride’s boys remaining alive in the postseason.

Pitman’s boys got 31 points from Avery Sanchez and 24 points from Cole Martin en route to a 71-47 thrashing of Edison High (Stockton).

With the victory, No. 15 Pride (21-7) advance to take on No. 2 Monterey Trail (25-3) tonight at 7:30.

Earlier in the evening, also against Edison, Pitman’s girls (15-11) fell 54-41. The Vikings earn the right to take on top-seeded Folsom.

Meanwhile, both Turlock squads had to hit the road for their playoff openers.

The Bulldog girls, seeded 18th, fell 51-46 to No. 15 Stagg (Stockton), which draws a date with No. 2 St. Mary’s (Stockton). The No. 17 Turlock boys finish the year at 14-13 after falling to No. 16 Cosumnes Oaks (Elk Grove) 77-39.

Pitman boys got off to a sluggish start on Monday, thanks largely to speed and athleticism of the Vikings, but a 22-7 third-quarter propelled the Pride to a rout.

Justin Anderson chipped in with 10 for Pitman, while Terrell Tek led the Vikings with 23.
