The Harris name is a familiar one in the waters of the Turlock High School swimming pool.
Last year, it was Cohen Harris that dominated the Sac-Joaquin Section with 114 goals to lead the Bulldogs to a deep playoff run. This year, it’s his brother, Cooper, who is taking the reigns as Turlock’s most lethal scorer.
Through 14 matches, the Bulldogs are 9-5 overall and have a 2-0 record in the Central California Athletic League. They won their league opener against Enochs 23-7 and followed up with a 18-1 domination of Modesto.
In the Enochs game, Harris scored six goals and had two assists and four steals. Against Modesto, he scored four times with an assist and three steals.
“Obviously, I want to do my best and do my part so that we can win league again, so it’s a good start.”
Harris is also motivated to beat his brother’s 114 single-season mark from a year ago.
“Those are hard shoes to fill,” admitted head coach Nic Serratos. “He did a lot through hard work and dedication, but Cooper’s a hard worker too, so we’ll see.
