There is a National Champion and All-American walking the halls of the Stanislaus State campus in Turlock.
With her time of 4:40.62 in the finals of the mile at the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind., Annie Wild became the first Indoor Track and Field National Champion in the 68-year history of the institution.
The sophomore and former Ripon High track and cross country standout also became the 24th All-American in Stan State indoor track and field history. The last Warrior to earn All-American honors was Najwa Chouati in the 3,000-meter run in 2023.
Athletes of U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) member institutions who finished in the top eight of their respective individual events and relays at the championships took home First Team All-America honors. Those who placed ninth through 12th individually or on a relay team that finished ninth or tenth were named Second Team All-America.

"What an amazing effort Annie put together to win a National Championship… She has definitely put in the work and it came to fruition today,” said Stan State Head Track and Field Coach Troy Johnson. “Coach (Darren) Holman had a plan from day one she adhered to everything ask of her, and now she's a National Champion…What a great moment for our program which gives us momentum moving to outdoor…Congrats to Coach Holman and (Courtney) Heiner for their selfless efforts to Stan State Track and Field.”
Two weeks ago, at the 2025 Last Chance Indoor National Qualifier at Boston University, the 2023 Trans-Valley League Track and Field Wild ran a school-record time of 4:39.92 to earn the number one seed in this year's National Championship field. In last weekend’s championship prelims, she punched her ticket to the finals with a time of 4:42.24, the fastest in the two heats.
"Annie's unwavering belief in the process, the coaching, and the program reflects her dedication and drive," said Darren Holman, Stan State head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach. "We couldn't be prouder of her journey and accomplishments."
With her ten points for capturing the women's mile today, Wild earned ten points for the Warriors as they finished tied for 19th place with Cal State San Marcos in the team points. Pittsburg State captured the team title with 63 points.
Wild and her Warrior men's and women's track and field teammates will return to the outdoor season in Clovis when they participate in the West Coast Relays at the Veterans Memorial Stadium which will be hosted by Fresno State University. The West Coast Relays are set for a 10:00 a.m. start on Saturday, March 29.
Stan State will host the 2025 CCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 1-3 at the Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium.

Mora earns podium finish at Big 12 Championship
A week after Pitman High School sent 12 wrestlers to the CIF State Wrestling Championships in Bakersfield and left with a back-to-back champion in Baya Austin, one of their alumni shined on the collegiate stage.
On March 9, 2021 graduate Juan Mora finished sixth in the 285-pound men’s division at the 2025 Big 12 Championship at the BOK Center in Tulsa. He is the first Pitman wrestler to place as a collegiate student-athlete at a power conference tournament.
Mora went 2-3 on the weekend, with his two wins coming in his first two matches. He earned a 21-5 technical fall over Jack Forbes of Utah Valley in the opening clash before securing a 6-3 sudden victory over Missouri's Seth Nitzel.
The three-time state qualifier with the Pride was just two places off of qualifying for the NCAA Division I Championships at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, and finished his junior year with a 12-9 record.
"This tournament provided great experience for some of these guys," said Sooners head coach Roger Kish.
