Dear Editor,
I was appalled when I read that Sarah Palin will be the featured speaker at the 50th anniversary of CSU Stanislaus. This is a woman who has repeatedly celebrated ignorance, repeatedly used hate speech on the campaign trail and told lies about health care reform such as the infamous "death panel" claim. This is a woman who did not complete her elected term as governor of Alaska. Why is this woman speaking at a CSU campus event and held up as some kind of example for the students and the community? She is an example of everything we do not want our students to become: An opportunist, a person content to play loose with the truth for political gain, a person who shows that you can quit when the going gets tough. I hope that the students and community boycott her appearance and say loud and clear : "Not in my name."
