I am excited to talk about some of the changes we are making here at the Turlock Journal. Beginning this week we will be adding a Friday publication to our printed product. It will be delivered to our home delivery subscribers at no additional charge and available in our current retail outlets and racks.
Since joining the Journal 18 months ago, I have constantly been asked the question “Is there any chance that you will go back to a daily paper?” My answer is always that we will continue to evaluate the feasibility and when we feel that readers and advertisers will support additional products we will add them. Adding a Friday edition will give us more space to report on the news that matters to Turlock residents.
In all of our editions we focus entirely on Turlock and the surrounding communities of Denair, Hilmar, Keyes and Delhi with news that matters to you. That has been our focus since 1904, and will continue to be our focus as we move forward. From city and county government to community events and local sports, our staff is dedicated to providing our audience with news and advertising that relates and is important to our community.
In addition, we are working on some features and enhancements to our website and other multimedia channels. We have really focused on our use of video in the past three months and will be launching Studio 209 and a weekly sports broadcast over the next three months. All of our media channels are designed to foster community conversations and inform, enlighten and entertain our audience.
As always, we want your feedback and suggestions as this is your hometown newspaper. My answer to the original question remains the same and I hope all of you continue to support us as we work hard to provide this community with news, advertising and information while maintaining the journalistic integrity of your community newspaper.
