William (Bill) Homer Hoobyar passed into his eternal home on July 17th, 2022 to be joyfully reunited with his wife Freda, and Jesus, his Lord and Savior. Bill passed after a short illness.

Bill was born first generation in 1930 in San Francisco, CA to Abimelech of Iran and Nina David Hoobyar of Turkey. He was raised in Turlock along with his older brother, Arby and younger sister, Janie (Shabbas.)

Bill married Freda Stalians in 1956 after completing his teaching degree at Fresno State.  He then went on to a very long and illustrious teaching career starting in Fowler, CA and then in Turlock where he was known for his love of his students, as well as his unique forms of discipline. Inattentive students were often startled when a tennis ball or eraser bounced off their desk, as well as numerous trips to run and touch the fence to burn off some energy. He was known to make learning fun and interactive and many of his students have fond memories of him to this day.

Bill was involved in many aspects of the EV Free Church most notably as an usher where his outgoing and warm personality could shine. He was an avid car enthusiast whose careful attention to details were legendary, as well as his extremely neat ways. No one had a cleaner garage than Bill Hoobyar!

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Freda Hoobyar and his parents. He leaves behind his daughters, Renee Hoobyar of Turlock and Ronna and Larry Crews, two granddaughters, Hollis Adams (Coleman) of San Diego and Kendall East (Jake) of Fresno and two great-grandchildren, Sutton May Adams and his first great-grandson born 30 hours after his passing, Walker William Adams. Bill’s third great-granddaughter, Rowan, will arrive in December.  Bill’s ready smile and gregarious ways will be missed terribly but we know he is in Heaven firing off some very bad Dad jokes. We love you Dad and will see you again.
