Walter lost his battle with Leukemia on November 18th.  He was born to Alva and Marguerite Hotchkiss in Hobbs, New Mexico on August 18, 1940.  He graduated from Livingston High School in 1958.  He was involved in sports, playing football and baseball.  He was also in the school band. After school he continued to play baseball and softball along with participating in several bowling leagues. 

Walter was employed at J.M. Equipment Company as a mechanic for 46 years.  After retirement he would enjoy his morning cup of coffee with his coffee buddies at Cindy’s restaurant.

Walter had many hobbies during his lifetime.  He built a dune buggy that he would take to the dunes by Monterey.  He also built a kit car that was a replica of a 1923 Model T Roadster and attended numerous street car events all over California and Nevada.  He traveled as far as Yakima, Washington towing his little snoopy trailer behind. He loved to watch NASCAR races and drags. His latest hobby was racing Dwarf Cars and he was in the process of restoring an old Jeep that he had used for years when he would go deer hunting with his buddies.

Walter married Mary Williamson in 1965 and next month would have been their 50th anniversary.  Their children were Jason and Kelly.  Kelly passed from cancer in July of this year. In addition to his wife Mary, and son Jason, he leaves behind four grandchildren; Mikaylah, Austin, Damion, and Laycie.  The great grandbaby, (Violet) is due in January.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Marguerite, two brothers, Howard and Glenn, and one sister, Shirley Ann.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November, 24, 2015 at Turlock Memorial Park-Funeral Home 425 North Soderquist Rd.  Turlock, CA at 10 A M   Lunch will be served afterwards at the First Southern Baptist Church in Delhi  - 9498 Hillside Rd.
