Virginia Ann Hoy, 70, of Turlock, passed away at home on August 28, 2014. She was born Virginia Wieland on May 15, 1944 in Hanford, California where she was raised and graduated from high school.
Virginia married Hugh Thomas Hoy on June 11, 1983 in Hanford and they came to Turlock later that year where they have resided since. She was employed at the Empire School District as a fiscal manager and later held that position with Modesto Schools and Tracy School District. Other endeavors that Virginia was involved with over the years included managing a co-op crafts store, owning and operating her own store the “Linen Closet” in downtown, Turlock, and as bookkeeper for Maurey and Kurt Palmberg who owned and operated five Napa Auto Stores in this area. She loved to knit, do needlepoint and cross stitch, was a voracious reader and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, “Tom” of Turlock, sons, Marc Hoy of Arizona, Ted Hoy (Michelle) of Minnesota, a daughter Peggy Barrod( Brian) of Elk Grove and 5 grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother David Wieland Jr. (Lillian) niece, Julia and nephew, David Wieland III.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Turlock. In lieu of flowers; memorials can be made to the “Barnabas Fund “or to “Youth Activities Fund” at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 640 N. Minaret, Turlock Ca. 95380. Turlock Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
