Terrence Eugene McSweeney, age 73, passed away at his home in Turlock on August 25th.  Terry was born to Eugene and Bette McSweeney in Oakland, CA.  Terry was a graduate of Hilmar High School and lived most of his life in Hilmar and Turlock.  Terry had many friends and with his outgoing personality, made friends easily.  He had a long career in the construction business, ultimately owning two successful construction firms in the area.  Terry enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and visited many foreign destinations over his lifetime.  His favorite travel destination, however, was much closer to home.  Along with many friends and family, Terry made New Brighton Beach his vacation and camping destination of choice almost every summer for more than 40 years. He also enjoyed taking his many grandchildren to Disneyland for family vacations. He loved sports and was especially passionate about the 49ers.  He was a long-time season ticket holder and his love of the 49ers went back more than 50 years.  An aneurysm in 2005 limited some of his mobility, but he successfully fought most of his symptoms and was able to continue to enjoy many of his passions of being with friends and family, attending Monte Vista Chapel and cheering on the 49ers.  One of his final and best road trips was with his brother, Mike, to Long Beach this past summer to visit their sister and her family.

Terry is survived by Carol, his wife of more than 50 years.  September 2nd would have been their 52nd wedding anniversary.  Terry is also survived by his brother Mike (Nancy) of Danville, CA, sister Gail of Long Beach, CA and brother Patrick of Hilmar; 5 children, Mike (Nina), Charity, Zachary (Christine), all of Turlock, Terri from Modesto, Tim from Murphys and 13 grandchildren ages 9 through 24.

A Celebration of life will be held at 11 am Friday Sept. 5, 2014 at Monte Vista Chapel with a reception immediately following. A private Graveside Service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Serenity Fellowship 2101 Geer Road Building a #101A Turlock, CA 95382.  Please leave your memories at
