Ronald Dale Sarhad, attorney at law, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2017, surrounded by his family. Ron was born December 30, 1941, in Turlock, California to John and Sooria Sarhad. He is predeceased by his father John. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda; mother Sooria; son Jonathan; brother Bob (JoAnn); stepsons Nathan Bunney (Janet)
and John Bunney (Chris); grandchildren Isaac, Elena, and Owen; and his dog Coleman.
Ron attended Hawthorne and Wakefield schools in Turlock before graduating Turlock High School in 1959. He quarterbacked the 1957 State Champion Turlock High School football squad, and maintained close friendships with his teammates until his passing. The championship team accomplishment is recognized still in the community and Ron is remembered for his football abilities.
After high school, Ron majored in History at San Francisco State College, memorable years with friends from high school. During this time, he was introduced to the law through part- time employment in the law offices of McInerney and Jacobs. Ron attended Boalt Hall Law School in Berkeley and Lincoln College of Law in San Francisco where he received his J. D. degree. He was admitted to The State Bar of California June 26, 1970. He worked as a Stanislaus County Deputy District Attorney before opening and maintaining a private practice in Turlock as a respected trial attorney for nearly 47 years.
He was a retired Lt. Col., United States Army Reserve, serving his country 24 years, including
USAR, National Guard, and several years as part of a Special Forces unit.
Ron was a gentleman and a man of faith, honoring Creator and creature with his life. He was champion to the underdog and fair to all. He called those around him to excel. He possessed a keen and quick wit and was a loyal friend, maintaining close friendships over a lifetime. He led a full and interesting life and gave much of himself to others. He will forever be remembered for his joy of life, passion for reading and learning (especially world affairs, military history and the Holy Scriptures), his love of nature, and his disciplined fitness. He passed, as he lived, with great courage.
A viewing will be held 7 p.m. Friday, September 8, at Turlock Memorial Park, 425 N. Soderquist Road. Burial will be 9 a.m. Saturday, September 9, at Turlock Memorial Park followed by a funeral service at 10:30 at Turlock Covenant Church, 316 S. Laurel, Turlock.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Anglican Church, (180 S. Denair Avenue, Turlock, CA 95380), the Turlock Gospel Mission (432 S. Broadway, Turlock, CA 95380), or the Colin Chen Trust, a fund Ron helped establish in 1987 to aid the families of Special Forces soldiers injured or killed in the line of duty (405 Kelse Court, Roseville, CA 95661)
