Ronald Clyde Colbert comfortably passed away at home on November 27, 2024.  He was surrounded by the loving care of family, friends, and prayers. Ron was 89 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde Ciscero and Nina Clarice (Openshaw) Colbert, his in-laws Donald and Barbara Chandler, sisters Virginia Medeiros and Carolyn Shaffer, brother-in-law Frank Shaffer, sister-in-law Beverly Jacquet and his son-in-law Jeffrey Broome.  Ron is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Donna Colbert, daughter Ronica Broome and sons Christopher Fagundes (Debra) and Nicholas Colbert (Sara).  Ron was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved and cherished dearly.

Ron was born at home in Turlock, CA. on May 16, 1935.  He spent most of his childhood on family farms in Modesto and Watsonville.  He went to Long Beach City College and then onto U.C. Berkeley where he studied engineering.  He moved back to Turlock and worked as a handyman while studying history and mathematics at CSU Stanislaus.Ron truly loved being a father and grandfather.  He was an avid reader and loved reading to his children and grandchildren.  He was known to be a kind and gentle soul and will be missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 1PM, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Allen Mortuary, 247 North Broadway, Turlock, CA.  A reception will follow at Carnegie Art Center, 250 North Broadway.  The Colbert family would like to thank Turlock’s Covenant Care Home Health and Hospice for their tremendous support and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Turlock chapter in Ron’s name.
