Robert Edward Daniels, 84, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 7, 2009.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, with a gathering of friends and family to follow.
Robert Edward Daniels was born to this life on June 19, 1925, in Port Arthur, Texas. Robert spent his childhood in Texas. Due to the early death of his mother and the Depression, he spent several years of his childhood in the Lena Pope Orphanage. After his father remarried, Robert and his two younger sisters joined his new blended family.
Robert moved to Petaluma, Calif. as a young teen, and graduated from Petaluma High School. He married his sweetheart, Ruth Genelle Allred, in 1943. During World War II he served in the Air Force. After the war, he was employed as a pressman in Petaluma and Sunnyvale, Calif. and later established his own electrical contracting company in Santa Rosa.
He also served in Gideons International. Robert was a man of faith and loved working for his church. He loved to read, especially current topics. He also enjoyed photography and travel. He and Ruth Genelle celebrated 66 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Judy Earnest and son-in-law, Robert, of Turlock; grandson, Robb Earnest and his wife, Marcia, of Van Nuys; granddaughter, Genelle Billings, and her husband, Jim, of Fort Mill, SC; granddaughter, Janna Fisher and her husband, Mike, of Turlock; grandchildren, Owen and Tyler Earnest, Zackary, Addalynne, Lukas and Nathaniel Billings, and Ethan, Joshua and Andrew Fisher; sister, Kay Rasmus; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Leonard.
Robert treasured his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of Brandel Manor and to the hospice nurses of Emanuel Hospital for their kindness to Robert during his final days. Special thanks are also given to Tom Blunt, Robert’s life-long best friend who was always there for him.
