On January 13, 2025, Patricia “Pat” Virginia Wickstrom passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her immediate family. She was 90 years old.
Born on September 27, 1934, in Turlock, CA, Pat’s life was a testament to education, family, and community service. Her family resided in Hilmar, CA, where Pat would establish deep roots that shaped her legacy. She graduated from Hilmar High School in 1952 before
pursuing a degree at San Jose State College, graduating in 1956. That same year, she married her lifelong partner, Duane Wickstrom, embarking on a partnership that would span nearly
seven decades.
Pat began her career as a credentialed teacher, dedicating years as a substitute teacher. She later took on the role of co-owner of Wickstrom Jerseys, managing the office and supporting the family business alongside Duane. Her contributions weren’t limited to the business; she was Duane’s steadfast right hand in all things, his biggest softball fan, and an active supporter of his work on Jersey boards, co-op boards, and Rotary Club activities.
Her dedication to her community was unparalleled. Pat’s service included roles as a Boy Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, PTA President, and Emanuel Hospital volunteer. At Hilmar Covenant Church, she served as a Smorgasbord Chairman and co-chairman, furthering her commitment to faith and fellowship. She was a proud member of Soroptimist
International, P.E.O., the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the Tuesday Reading Club. Her impact extended to education through her 25 years of service on the Merced County Board of Education. In addition to her many commitments, Pat found joy in travel and cheering on Hilmar sports teams.
Pat is survived by her three children and their spouses, Scott (Vicki) Wickstrom, Susan Vierra, and Michael (Margaret) Wickstrom; her sister, Marilyn Johnson; her seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duane, and her parents, Earl and Virginia Goodell.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on January 27, 2025, at Hilmar Covenant Church in Hilmar, CA, followed by a reception at Pageo Lavender Farm in Turlock, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat’s honor to a charity of your choice.
