Myrna Jean de la Motte passed away on June 1, 2023 in Poulsbo, Washington. She was born on September 7, 1932 in Los Angeles, California to George and Johanna (Muller) Murphy. Myrna was baptized, confirmed and lived in Van Nuys and Canoga Park in the San Fernando Valley, attended Canoga Park High School where a young Frank Sinatra sang in a War Bond Drive rally. After the War the family moved to Denair, California where she spent summers as a field worker picking peaches, tomatoes and boysenberries. Myrna graduated from Denair High School in 1950 and attended San Jose State College. On July 14, 1951 Myrna married Glenn de la Motte at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Turlock, California. They lived in Turlock, California, moved to Denair, California in

1963 and attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School. She was secretary and receptionist in the family business at ArtCraft Industries, active in the Denair Schools Women’s Service Club, and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League as Vice President and President. She was a volunteer poll worker at each public election.

In 1976, with her husband, Glenn she moved to Sonora, California where she helped run Allcove Kitchens and

Baths and attended St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Sonora. 

In 2007 Myrna and Glenn retired and moved to Poulsbo, Washington on the Hood Canal where they attended Peace Lutheran Church in Bremerton, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Johanna Murphy as well as her brother Gerald (Jerry) Murphy.

She is survived by her husband Glenn, her brother Rev. Bruce Murphy of Ashland, Oregon, as well as sons Mark

(Laura) de la Motte of Turlock, California, Matthew (Susie) de la Motte of Sonora, California, Dean de la Motte of Newport, Rhode Island and daughter Daren (Robert) Schadt of Bremerton, Washington, grandchildren Sarah de

la Motte, Rebecca Wisniakowski, Anya Boynton, Dustin de la Motte, Maria de la Motte, William de la Motte and great

grandchildren Riley, Tyler and Audrey Boynton, Jacob and Michalina Wisniakowski, Norah and Carl de la Motte, Bastian and Annika Falk and Rocco de la Motte-Federico.
