Marian Ruth Metzler, 90, went to be with the Lord in her heavenly home on Christmas Day 2009.
She entered the world on Thanksgiving Day 1919, in Astoria, Ore., the youngest child of Otto and Ellen Hanson. She graduated from Mission High School in San Francisco as the valedictorian of her class in 1937. Marian married the love of her life, Allan Leroy Metzler, in September of 1941. Together, they raised their two precious children, Rod and Christine, in Lafayette, Calif. Marian enjoyed a long career with Bank of America, where she worked in many positions, the last of which was bank operations. Allan and Marian moved to Carmichael in 1974, and later retired to the Covenant Village of Turlock in 1989. Allan passed away in February of 2006, after 64 happy years with Marian. Marian was a very talented Porcelain China painter and won many awards for her beautiful works of art.
She is survived by her two children, Rod Metzler and Christine Isaacson and their spouses, Carlene and Dave; and four grandsons, Derek, Brandon, Kyle, and Trevor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Paul; and her sister, Florence.
Marian was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be missed forever by her family. She will be remembered always for her devotion to her family, for her faith, and for her kindness to all who knew her.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at the Turlock Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a reception at Covenant Village of Turlock, Cedar Lounge, 2125 N. Olive Ave., Turlock.
