Marguerite Santos
November 1914 - September 2011
Margarita Santos

Turlock

After 96 wonderful years, the journey for Marguerite Santina Santos of Turlock ended on September 25, 2011.
Marguerite was born in El Centro in the Imperial Valley on November 2, 1914. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed growing up with her four siblings. She attended school in Ripon. While attending a dance with friends at Yori's Grove in Ceres, Marguerite met her future husband Jess Santos. The two were married for over 50 years and had two children the late Melvin Lee Santos and Janice Marie Giovanetti.  In 1943 Jess and Marguerite moved to Turlock from Newman to start The Santos Dairy.
Marguerite's culinary skills were magnificent. Family and friends were delighted by an invitation to enjoy a meal in her home. She loved the outdoors and could grow all varieties of flowers and vegetables without fail.  Ultimately travelling was her true passion she loved to plan trips with her family and friends.
In 2002 Marguerite moved to Bethel Retirement Community where she enjoyed many great friends and continued her zest for life.
Marguerite was an active member of the Sacred Heart Church, Ave Regina YLI #200, IDES #68 and SPRSL #130. She was a president of the Washington School PTA.
Marguerite's legacy will live on in her daughter Janice Giovanetti, son-in-law John Giovanetti, daughter-in law Nancy Santos, grandchildren Richard Santos, Rob Santos, Nicole Lassen, Cristina Daniels and their spouses. She also had nine great-grandchildren, Vance Santos, Chelsea Santos, Ana Katrina Lassen, Sophia Lassen, Nickolaus Santos, Connor Daniels, Phoebe Santos, Aric Daniels and Teddy Santos.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Community Hospice 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356. We would like to thank all of the staff at the Alexander Cohen House for their amazing support and compassion they showed Marguerite and our family.
Services to celebrate the life of Marguerite will be held at 11:00am, Friday, September 30th at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock.
