Margaret Ann Brown Peterson, 81, formerly of Albia, IA and Turlock, CA, died December 9, 2013 at The Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa, IA.
She was born February 26, 1932 in Moravia, IA to Rollie and Mildred Mahin Brown.
She graduated from Albia High School in 1950, and in that year became a member of the National Honor Society. While living in Iowa she was employed by the Monroe County Auditor’s Office in Albia, Barker Poultry Equipment in Ottumwa and Home Federal in Des Moines.
On February 27, 1976 Margaret married Gordon Peterson and moved with him to his hometown of Turlock, CA. They were the owners of Gordon E. Peterson’s Custom Farming, which they operated until their retirement in 2000.
She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Albia, IA and First United Methodist Church in Turlock, CA. Margaret was an active member of the Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service.
She leaves behind nieces, Marcia Jordan of Maryville, MO, Janet Myers of Kyle, TX, Jane Blew of Ottumwa, IA; nephews, Stan (Lou) Blew of Ottumwa, IA Mark (Cathy) Blew of Tucson, AZ; sister-in-law, Marilyn Brightwell of Gardnerville, NV and numerous cousins in California.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Gordon Peterson on October 4, 2011; her parents, Rollie and Mildred Brown; her step-father, Leo Reed; her sister, Barbara Brown Blew; her brother, Robert Brown; and her nephew, Robert L. Blew.
Private burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery near Albia. A private family service will be held at a later date.
