A memorial service and reception will be held for Lois Roberson, 86 of Modesto, at 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at Sierra Bible Church, 15171 Tuolumne Rd., Sonora. Lois died Aug. 10 in her home after a long illness.
She was born on May 30, 1923, in Modesto. She attended grammar school at Stanislaus Union, went to Modesto High School, and graduated from Modesto Junior College with an AA degree.
She was married to George Radcliffe, Jr. on July 15, 1945, at her parent’s home. Lois was a wife and home-maker for many years. She was involved in the Parent’s Club at Stanislaus School where her children attended. Later she worked at Thomas Downey High School transcribing lessons into Braille for visually impaired students. Lois worked for the Stanislaus Union School District office as a secretary. She retired in 1992, and continued to take care of her family’s almond and walnut ranch on Bangs Avenue where she did much of the field work and irrigating on her own.
In 1999, Lois married Harry Roberson of Twain Harte. Lois and Harry celebrated 10 years of marriage on June 26 of this year. They enjoyed socializing with family and friends and traveling in their motor home. They traveled to Washington D.C. and Australia. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church while living in Modesto, and later a member of Sierra Bible Church when she came to live in Sonora.
Lois is survived by her husband, Harry Roberson of Twain Harte; daughter, Layna Radcliffe of Modesto; four grandchildren; three stepsons and their wives; numerous step-grandchildren; and many other friends and family.
