Visitation for Lois Silveira, 85, of Turlock, will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 26 at Allen Mortuary in Turlock. Lois passed away at home on Saturday.
Lois was born in Turlock to Gus and Myrtle Booth. Lois grew up in Turlock and graduated from Turlock High. After high school, Lois was married in 1944, to Stephen Silveira in San Antonio, Texas, during World War II. After the war was over and Stephen returned home, she and Stephen moved to Newman and settled in. Much of Lois’ life revolved around Stephen’s involvement as a local farmer, a long-time manager of the Mosquito Abatement in Turlock, and an active member of the Turlock Rotary Club for over 30 years, in which he even received a Paul Harris Fellow Award. She and Stephen took part in many Rotary Conventions, and they loved to travel the U.S. in their Airstream trailer. Lois loved to cook and to sew. She spent much of her life making her own clothing, and later in life making clothing for her granddaughter.
Lois is survived by her granddaughter, Michelle (Joe) Simas of Tracy; two great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Silveira of Newman; and siblings, Lucille Sanders of Atwater and Merle Booth of Turlock.
Lois is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Stephen Silveira; and her son, Steve Silveira Jr.
