John Couto passed away at home on Nov. 9, 2022 in Hilmar, CA. He was born on Jan. 13, 1951 in Terceira, Azores to Constantino and Maria Couto. John was raised in the Azores and Brazil. He moved to the United States in 1966 and lived in the Turlock area. He and Margarita Palacios were married on May 20, 2001 in Turlock, CA. John worked as a welder and in manufacturing for many years before retiring in 2013. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors, fishing, and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music, and cooking. John was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church.

John was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his loving wife, Margarita; his daughters, Elizabeth (Steve) Ladine, Racquel (Nate) Noel; his step-daughter, Maria (Marco) Palacios; his step-son, Peter (Adriana) Palacios; his brother, Helio (Angela) Couto; his sister, Mary (Joe Al) Lewis; his grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing is being held with a recitation of the Rosary to follow at Turlock Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

A funeral Mass is being held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
