Joan was born in Whitinsville, Massachusetts to her parents Charles and
Alice Mateer in 1930. She attended school in Northbridge, MA and in 1964
moved to Uxbridge, MA before settling in Turlock in 2004. While in Whitinsville she worked in the textile industry for 21 years at Whitin Machine Works. She enjoyed reading, collecting antiques and jewelry.
Joan is survived by her loving husband Cyril Griffiths; children Donna Griffiths of Modesto, CA, Gerald Griffiths of Uxbridge, MA and James Griffiths of Turlock; siblings Eleanor Mc Gilpin of Florida, Kenneth Mateer of Connecticut and Robert Mateer of Massachusetts; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother Francis Mateer.
Private internment will be held at a later date.
