Jessie Mickey Orosco, age 76, of Turlock, CA was received by our Lord on March 22, 2015.
She was born September 29, 1938, in Turlock, CA to Francisco and Ermelinda Gallardo. Her father ran several successful agricultural businesses including farming, trucking and labor contracting. Her mother owned and operated a local restaurant (El Charro) in the 1950s and early 1960s. Jessie attended Turlock High School and later received her Executive Secretarial Degree from Modesto Business College in 1956 for which she applied those skills in support of the family businesses.
Jessie married her life’s love, Juan R. Orosco, on November 28,1964. Recently they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Together they raised four sons on a small ranch in South Turlock. Jessie was very proud that they all became licensed professional engineers. She dedicated 39 years of service to the State of California retiring as a Manager of the Turlock branch of the Employment Development Department (EDD). Simultaneously she ran a floral business (La Boutique de Fleur) in the 1980s and 1990s and held a realtor’s license since the 1960’s until her death.
Jessie was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and Catechist for over 20 years. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband during the late summer each year on the South shore of Lake Tahoe. Taking a relaxing swim and reading a good book were some of her favorite activities.
Since her retirement she loved to spend her free time with her husband, four sons and their families. She was also a member of the City of Turlock Economic Development Task Force appointed by the Mayor to evaluate and make recommendations for the 2013 Economic Development Strategic Plan. Jessie was preceded in death by her sister, Olivia Gallardo; and brother Augustine Gallardo. She is survived by her husband, Juan R. Orosco of Turlock, CA; her sister, Ramona Romero and her husband Arturo; her brother, Marcos Gallardo and his wife Nola; four sons and their spouses, Juan F. and Gina Orosco, Anthony and Kimberlie Orosco, Daniel P. and Kristina Orosco and Michael Orosco; three grandchildren, Morgan Orosco, Daniel C. Orosco and Brittany Orosco; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
The following Catholic Services are scheduled:
A formal viewing of the deceased will be held on Tuesday, March 31st from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Turlock Funeral Home.
The Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 31st at 8:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 1st at the Sacred Heart Church in Turlock.
Interment will follow directly after Funeral Mass at Turlock Memorial Park.
All who wish to celebrate Jessie’s life are further invited to join the family at the Turlock War Memorial Hall following the internment.
