Harvey Kark Litvack passed away peacefully in Modesto on October 28, 2021, following several years of declining health. He had just celebrated his ninety first birthday on the previous day.
Harvey was born in Pueblo, Colorado on October 27, 1930, the son
of Abraham Litvack and Rose (Kark) Litvack, both of whom predeceased him. An older brother Morris and a twin brother Jerry also predeceased him in death. Harvey is survived by his long time companion of over 51 years Andrew LaMance, by his sister Nancy Litvack of Pueblo, Colorado and his favorite cousins Julia Vean, her daughter Nan Vean, and Betty Jaffe, all
living in Denver, Colorado.
Harvey graduated in 1948 from Centennial High School in Pueblo, Co.
Harvey served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was stationed in France, where he was able to visit all the great museums of that country.
He taught art for over 46 years, with 40 years as the art teacher at Turlock High School.
Harvey graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA & a MFA
in art. One of his art works was purchased by the Brooklyn Art Museum.
His art works are in some of Colorado art museums and he is in the book
Colorado Abstract: Paintings and Sculpture published in 2009.
Harvey and Andrew shared an intense interest in travel. They enjoyed trips to over 60 countries, covering every continent except Antarctica
Andrew would like to thank the Caring Hands team of amazing caregivers, JR, Missy and Tina, who improved Harvey’s quality of life during the last days of his life. Andrew would also like to thank Community Hospice for all of its support and help during Harvey’s final days.
At Harvey’s request a Jewish grave site service was held at Lakewood Cemetery on October 29,2021.
