Harlan F. Nystrom

At the age of 78, Bud died peacefully on December 29, 2013 in his Santa Rosa home. He was surrounded by his family as his long battle with Parkinson’s disease ended.
Son of Arnold and Rosalie Nystrom, Bud was born in Turlock, CA. He attended Trinity College in Chicago, IL where he met Beverly, his loving wife of 56 years. After receiving his Master’s of Divinity, Bud went on to obtain a professional teaching credential and became a life long educator.
In 1969, Bud and Bev moved their family to Santa Rosa. He retired from Proctor Terrace Elementary School after a teaching career of 38 years. Bud was an avid model railroader, astronomer, collector and loved leading and playing music. He was a devoted Christian and spent many years in leadership at Wikiup Evangelical Free Church of which they were among the first members.
He is survived by his devoted wife Beverly; his sons Kirk (Nikki) and Kyle (Heidi); his daughters Karin (Gar) and Kirsten (Steve); and his 8 grandchildren.
A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, January 4th at 1 pm at The Cove church, 5146 Old Redwood Hwy, Santa Rosa, 95403.
