Gary Howard Luman died July 7th, 2024 surrounded by family members at home. Born to Bernice Homer Luman and Cuma Hazel (Parham) Luman in Holdenville, Oklahoma on January 23, 1938, Gary graduated from Placer High School in 1957, from Chico State University in 1965, taught high school in Modesto and Turlock for 30 years, and worked as a general contractor for nine.

Gary and Janice Marie (Bills) were married on March 18th, 1962, had four children (Kevin, Heidi, Kyle and Brent), and lived in Denair from 1968-2016. Gary was an avid gardener, wood-worker and grandfather of eight; Fiona, Soraya, Emma, Kendall, Grant, Mattie, Ari & Christian.

Preceded in death by his parents, Gary is survived by his sisters, LuEtta Luman and Beverly Shinn, his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews (Kurt Shinn, Kendra Shinn Gouge, Garin Shinn, Garth Shinn & Melissa Laurita).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Westside Ministry in Turlock, CA in Gary’s name.

The visitation will be Friday, July 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at 10am, on July 20th, 2024, at Allen Mortuary, 247 N. Broadway, Turlock, California, followed by a gathering at Carnegie Arts Center, Gemperle Room. Condelences can be left at www.allenmortuary.com
