Filomena “Medeira” C. Da Rocha, 85, of Modesto, died Dec. 12 at Alexander Cohen Hospice in Hughson. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 16 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St. in Turlock. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias. A mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S. Walnut Ave. in Turlock.
Filomena was born Nov. 11, 1924 in Santa Barbara, Terceira, Azores. She was a lineworker for 30 years and a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock and Our Lady of Fatima of Turlock.
She is survived by her sons, Joe L. da Rocha of La Grande and his wife, Delia, and Delmar Da Rocha and his wife, Charlise, of Modesto; daugthers, Ana Culbertson and her husband, James, and Nelia Corder and her husband, Dave, all of Manteca; sister, Maria de Lourdes Cardoso of Argentina; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Silveira da Rocha on Dec. 19, 2003; and sister, Alice Machado.
Services are under the direction of Whitehurst, Norton & Dias of Turlock.
