Elveria Katherine (Kathy) Torres went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2024, at her home in Turlock, CA.
She was married to the love of her life, Mariano Torres, for 55 years. She had four children: Gabriel (Emma), Christina, Ruth (Art), Melissa (Kevin) and 11 grandchildren: Christopher, Charlie, Jazmine, Kaylee, Landon, Derek, Aubrey, Nina, Emily, Brynli, and Lucas.
Kathy, as she was known to her family and community, was born on January 26, 1949, in Pueblo, Colorado, to Juan B. Bonse and Eleanor K. Archuleta.
In 1950 Kathy moved from Colorado to Oceano, California. Kathy loved to sing and was involved with the Oceano Christian church choir. She was a faithful woman of God. Kathy’s heart and passion was for helping others. She was gifted with many talents which included sewing, craft making, baking, cooking, and being a friend to anyone who needed encouragement. It brought her joy to craft a card, cook a meal, and send it home with you. She loved to host large family gatherings, and there was always room for one more. When you came to her house, you became family.
Kathy used these skills and compassion for others through her work as a resource coordinator/notary with the Salvation Army, first as a volunteer, and then as an employee with the Social and Senior Services programs for 25 years. She gifted her talents through her community work with Catholic Charities and other organizations dedicated to helping those in need. She was recognized and honored by the Minority Women’s Network of Stanislaus County for her community work with seniors.
Kathy loved her family and her community, and it has shown through her life’s work.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy’s final wish is to pay forward kindness and compassion to others. Donations may be sent to the Community Hospice and Health Services Foundation, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
