Edward D. Hill, 78, of Merced, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock on Sept. 24. He was born in Muskogee, Okla. to Lola and Opal Hill. The family moved to the Modesto area when Edward was a young boy. He served in the Army during WW II and became an active member of the Moose Lodge and the VFW. He loved his family, and he also loved to fish and play pool.
Edward is survived by his mother, Opal Hill; daughter, Pam Reid (Lester) of Dos Palos; son, Doyle Wayne Hill of Merced; sisters, Jessie Farrell of Lemoore, Calif. and Charlotte Hill of Oakdale; eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his father, Lola Hill; sisters, Marie Mercer, Linda Draper and Beatrice Peavy; and brothers, Boyd Hill and Dale Hill.
Plans for a memorial service and inurnment are pending and will be in Lemoore, Calif.
