A memorial service will be held for Dorothy Janz, 82, of Turlock, at 4 p.m. on Sept. 10 at Allen Mortuary. She passed away at Doctors Medical Center on Sept. 4.
Dorothy was born in Apache, Okla. in 1926. The Janz family moved from Oklahoma in the early 1950s, settling in the San Francisco area until they settled permanently on a ranch in the Atwater/Livingston area in 1962. After her children were grown, she moved to Turlock to live closer to her grandchildren and work. Dorothy worked a total of 25 years in the boning room at Bright’s Frozen Foods, which later became Banquet Frozen Foods and later ConAgra of Turlock. She officially retired in 1978, but continued to work part-time as a caregiver to the disabled and the elderly in several homes in the Turlock area.
Dorothy is survived by her children Jim D. Janz of Ceres, Roy G. Janz, Larry D. Janz, and Joyce Cranke all of Turlock, Margaret Jones of Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and Delores Tickner of Bridgeville, Calif.; sister, Ann Gonzalez of Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor R. Janz; daughter, Judy Juanita; and grandson, Robert Dean.
