Dolly Hanchett, 87, of Ceres, passed away early Monday at Emanuel Medical Center. She was born in Oklahoma to Thomas and Maggie Lawson. She grew up and went to school in Crowder, Okla. In 1940 she married Troy McChristian. After less than two years, while she was pregnant with their first child, Troy was tragically killed as a pedestrian by a passing car. So, her son Dale, who now lives in Ceres, never met his father. The memories of her beloved husband were so painful, Dolly, who loved horses, sold her favorite horse in order to fund a move to California. In 1945, she married Mark Hanchett. In 1997, after 52 years of marriage, her husband Mark also preceded Dolly in death.
Dolly is survived by sons, Dale (Joyce) McChristian of Ceres and Tom (Susan) Hanchett of Palmetto, Fla.; daughter, Marilyn (Paul) Nord of Arnold; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be considered for the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 72531.
A memorial service to honor Dolly will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18 at Allen Mortuary. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
