A memorial service for Darrel Dahlquist, 72, of Turlock, will be held at 11 a.m. on July 7 at Monte Vista Chapel. A private burial will take place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. Darrel passed away at Brandel Manor.
Darrel was raised in Hilmar, and was a graduate of Hilmar High. During his high school years, he was very active in the FFA. Darrel went on to attend college at UC Davis, where he earned his BS degree, before enlisting in the Army. He served in the Army from 1960 to 1962. When returned from his service, Darrel took over his father’s dairy.
Darrel loved coaching softball, and was an Awana Leader for 30 years at Monte Vista Chapel. He was also involved with Westside Ministries for 12 years.
Darrel is survived by his children, Shelly Schmidt of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robin Lauck of Turlock, Stacy Blanton of Reno, Nev. and Darla Dahlquist of Turlock; sister, Phyllis Huarez of Seymour, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
