Daniel Ray Murphy was born on Sept. 9, 1946 in Modesto and went to into rest on Nov. 19, 2009, after a two-year battle with an illness.
He served in the National Guard after high school for six years during the Vietnam War. He was a proud patriot that served his country.
He married the love of his life, with which he had three children. He drove for Associated Feeds for nearly 30 years, until he became ill. He loved the road just as much as his family.
He is survived by his wife, Esther Murphy; sons, Jason and his wife, Nicole, of Pittsburg, Calif. and Jacob Murphy of Turlock; daughter, Danielle Murphy-Elam of Turlock; grandchildren, Corinne and Cole Elam of Turlock; and brother, Dave Murphy of Turlock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 at New Life Christian Center in Turlock. Burial will be private.
