Bob Raab, 74, of Modesto, passed away at home with his family at his side on Sept. 21. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 26 at First United Methodist Church in Modesto.
Bob was born in Buffalo, NY to Charles and Gertrude Raab in 1934. He was raised in Lake Worth, Fla. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. During that time he met and married Frances Wynell Pennington. After the service, they moved to Idaho where Bob was involved with early development and farm management of the Idaho Youth Ranch, a place for troubled boys. He received a B.S. degree in Agronomy from the University of Idaho. In 1968, the family moved to Visalia, Calif. when Bob was offered a position at Hunt Wesson Foods. They later moved to Modesto in 1980, where Bob continued his work as a commodities manager at the Hunts Oakdale plant until his retirement in 1992. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Modesto. He enjoyed traveling throughout the Western United States, photography and coin collecting.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances (Penny) Raab of Modesto; son, Jeff Raab of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; and granddaughter, Alice Raab.
