Amalia Mondragon

Amalia Mondragon, 96 of Turlock, passed away at Emanuel Medical Center with her family by her side. Amalia was born in Bolivar-Valle, Colombia in 1915 to parents Jorge and Annamaria Mondragon. While living there she worked extremely hard in order to help raise her family. She moved to San Francisco in 1963 with her two youngest children Miriam and Francisco, in order to join her four older children Aparicio, Jose, Blanca, and Lucy. Shortly after, the family moved to Turlock. She was employed at Rodgers Foods until retiring at age 65.
Amalia was a well-traveled woman who had the chance to get to experience many different cultures. Some of her trips included Colombia, Hawaii, Mexico, Italy, and Jerusalem. Amalia was also a woman devoted to her faith, often saying to people "Que Dios te bendiga" meaning "May God bless you". She was strong, caring, giving, loving, and very accepting.
Amalia Mondragon played many different roles. Not only was she a mother, but also a friend, a sister, an aunt, a great aunt, a great-great aunt, a great-great-great aunt, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and a great-great-great grandmother. She was a strong woman who was looked up to by everyone in her family. She loved everyone for who they were no matter what and everyone loved her for that.
She is survived by her sons and daughters Aparicio Mondragon, Francisco Mondragon, Jose Mondragon, Miriam Lopez, Lucy Jau, Inez Mondragon, Blanca Gallegos, Hilda Zarama; 29 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25 at Allen Mortuary, followed by an evening Rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 26th at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
