A graveside service will be held for Allen Zanos, 87, of Turlock, at 10 a.m. Aug. 8 at Turlock Memorial Park. He passed away at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Thursday.
He was born in Hugo, Colo. to Gus and Minnie Zanos in 1921. Allen was raised in Turlock from the age of seven. He attended and graduated from Turlock High School, and he was on both basketball and track teams. Allen served in the Navy during WW II. After returning from the service, he and his brother owned Zanos Bros Milk Delivery. Later, Allen was a bartender at Divine Gardens and Staley’s. Allen enjoyed painting.
He is survived by his daughter, Gaynol (Ron) Witzel of Turlock; grandson, Darrel; five stepchildren; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Zanos; and brothers, George and Don.
