Ailene Marie Cross, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and pillar of her community, peacefully passed away on July 8, 2024, in Turlock, California, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 16, 1936, in Turlock, to parents Enoch and Marie Christoffersen.

Ailene graduated from Fresno State University and embarked on a career that reflected her dedication to both family and education. Initially involved in the family business, Valchris Turkeys, she later found her true calling in teaching. Ailene taught high school business classes in Idaho, Wyoming, and spent 30 impactful years at Turlock High School. Her commitment extended beyond the classroom through her involvement in the R.O.P. program, where she mentored and trained countless students in practical business skills.

A woman of deep faith, Ailene was an active and charter member of New Life Christian Center, where her faith played a central role in her life. She also served as President of the Miracle Board, a nonprofit organization founded by the Christofferson Family and partnered with Chi Alpha ministries with the goal of reaching college students for Christ.

Ailene is survived by her devoted daughters, Kirsten Alvord and husband Jack of Middleton, ID, and Tanya Porter and husband Darren of Turlock, CA; cherished grandchildren, Jack Alvord, Jared Alvord, Cheyenne Oliveira, Jordan Porter, and Annemarie Porter; adored great-grandchildren, Titus, Reagan, Nixon, Knox, and Reese; and loving sister, Marlene Reed of Huntington Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cross, parents Enoch and Marie Christoffersen, siblings Lorene Larson and Enoch Lloyd Christoffersen.

A celebration of Ailene’s life will be held at New Life Christian Center W. Tuolumne Rd, Turlock on Friday, July 26th, at 2:00 PM.
