Fresh off her gold medal performance in women’s javelin and shot put at the U.S. Police & Fire Championships, Turlock Mayor and retired Modesto Police Officer Amy Bublak captured the World Police & Fire Games’ women’s javelin championship while setting a new world record.

“I am so pleased to have thrown so well and win the women’s javelin gold medal at the World Police & Fire Games in Winnipeg (Canada). I had no idea I had broken the world record but am grateful to my trainer, Jennifer Neal of ABC fitness,” said Bublak.

A three time NCAA Division III All American in the javelin, Bublak was previously coached by the late Cy Young Jr. and Dr. Mark Erickson during her time at Stanislaus State.

“Winnipeg is a beautiful city. The people are so friendly and I want to thank Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham, his staff, and all the wonderful workers and volunteers associated with the World Police & Fire Games for making the 2023 event so special for all competitors and fans,” she said.

In June, Bublak brought home gold medals in both the javelin and shot-put events at the U.S. Police & Fire Championships for the second consecutive year.

Bublak will compete in the women’s shot put Saturday at 2:30 CST. The competition can be viewed on live stream by downloading the World Police and Fire Games 2023 app.
