History of business:
Liberty Santiago of Turlock knows first-hand of the struggles to find motivation and resources while working remotely or while travelling. During the Covid-19 pandemic, her experiences doing business consulting led her to the idea of creating a community office, and she has done just that with The Werk Space.
“The Werk Space is an environment where businesses, remote workers or travelling workers can come to utilize shared resources in a supportive and uplifting environment where collaboration is king,” Santiago said. “My vision for these spaces is that somebody who is looking for office space can have one where they can see other colleagues, see other people working so that they don’t feel isolated or so they can help them develop a routine post-pandemic.”
The Werk Space is located at the 200 suite of the Tower Health & Wellness Center at 1801 Colorado Ave. in Turlock and consists of 11 office spaces and a conference room, complete with printing and notary services, a television, advanced high-speed Wi-Fi, private and public connectivity networks and more. All doors to the space have keyless entry and surveillance cameras are installed for maximum security of property.
Santiago explained that after sharing her idea of offering rentable office spaces on social media, she caught the attention of Lorraine Bernaldes, marketing director at the Tower.
“Since starting my own consulting business in 2020, I had to make a point to network, and through that I met Lorraine. She heard me on social media talking about a potential coworking space and called me asking to talk… She showed me some of the different spaces at the Tower and I was able to pitch it to the building owner, Sam Romeo, and he liked it, so we went forward with it,” Santiago said.
After being given the keys to the spaces, Santiago and her team spent nearly 10 months from last March to December organizing and decorating. As part of the project, Santiago is featuring pieces from several local artists on the walls to show support to area creatives.
“We are available for occupancy and are in launch mode right now, so seeing this come to fruition from the time to where I envisioned this in my head to where we are now is very exciting,” Santiago said.
The spaces are available to rent on a daily or monthly basis. Day rates are $29 a day where customers can use their space from 9 a.m. to 5 p,m., but they also offer loyalty rewards where customers who buy five days can get a sixth day for free. Private office suites are also available where members can access the space 24/7, with prices ranging from $500 to $955 a month based on square footage and amenities of the suite.
Those interested can book a tour or find out additional information through their official website, www.thewerkspace.com. Santiago and her team can also be reached on their social media channels, @thewerkspace_ on Instagram and at The Werk Space on Facebook.
