Backstage Academy of Dance has put their own twist on holiday classic "The Nutcracker Ballet."

The Christmas story of Clara's vivid dreams of her nutcracker turned prince and their adventures with the Snow Queen, Sugar Plum Fairy, and Arabian, Mandarin and Russian dancers will be played out on the stage, but instead of the traditional ballet format Backstage has added all styles of dance.

"Twisted Nutcracker" will be performed at 7 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12 and 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at the Turlock Community Theatre, 1574 E. Canal Dr. A complimentary Sugar Plum party will follow each performance.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children under 12, and can be purchased at Backstage Academy of Dance, 957 E. Monte Vista Ave., or by calling 667-8511.
