The Turlock Fire Department has been hard at work, responding to two significant structure fires within just two days this week. Their swift actions and collaboration with mutual aid partners were instrumental in controlling both incidents.
The first fire occurred on Sunday morning, just after 7:10 a.m., when crews responded to a smoke check near G Street and Jessica Avenue. The situation escalated quickly, prompting firefighters to upgrade the call to a working structure fire response. Units from Turlock Fire, along with mutual aid from the Turlock Rural Fire Department, converged on the 100 block of G Street. Upon arrival, they encountered heavy smoke and flames pouring from the back of a house, with the fire extending into the attic. Thanks to the combined efforts of crews from across Stanislaus County, the blaze was brought under control.
On Monday evening at approximately 6:22 p.m., another challenge arose as Turlock Fire units responded to a working structure fire in the 1200 block of North Olive Avenue. Crews found smoke emanating from a second-story bedroom window upon arrival. Their quick action contained the fire to its room of origin, extinguishing it within 15 minutes. Five residents were displaced as a result, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The affected individuals are now receiving assistance from the Red Cross. Firefighters conducted an extensive overhaul of the fire-damaged building, ensuring complete safety.
Both fires remain under investigation, with the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit handling inquiries. Community members with information are urged to contact the unit at (209) 525-5537.
