Modesto may be the place to be for car enthusiasts in the month of June, but come July downtown Turlock is a beacon of classic chrome for the annual 4th of July Parade and Car Show.
Applications are now being accepted for entries into the parade and car show, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 1.
“It’s actually a big traditional car show and parade for the 4th of July holiday, and we always get a big turnout. As soon as the Christmas season is over we get emails asking when applications will be taken,” said Downtown Turlock director Travis Regalo.
The parade and car show will be bigger than ever this year, said Regalo.
“We used to cap it at 100 cars for the show on Broadway. Last year we had 200 cars along Main Street. This year we’re allowing 250 cars to, hopefully, line all along Main Street in downtown,” he said. “We are trying to increase our vendors as well, looking to get about 60 total.”
The downtown parade and car show draws hundreds of visitors to Turlock each year and this year could bring record crowds due to the lift of COVID-19 restrictions and the event being held the Saturday before the holiday.
The parade and car show are open to all participants, and all types of vehicles.
“It is a great opportunity to showcase your vehicles and connect with other enthusiasts in the community,” said Regalo.
Applications can be picked up in person at La Primera, located at 144 S. 1st St., from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, or at the Turlock Chamber of Commerce, located at 115 S. Golden State Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
