As a little girl, Gina Blom loved to paint. The passion followed her into adulthood, and after years spent in the corporate world, Blom and her daughter, Lauren Denton, decided to chase their dreams and open Rembrandt and Rosé, a paint and sip studio that puts a fun spin on art.

After visiting a paint and sip studio in Lake Tahoe, the pair knew that beginning their own business in Turlock was an idea they couldn’t pass up.

“I was almost in tears,” said Blom. “I told Lauren, ‘I can’t believe how good it feels to put that brush on canvas again.’”

After brainstorming on the car ride home, Blom and Denton came up with the name Rembrandt and Rosé, Turlock’s first studio of its kind. The studio offers private painting parties at their studio, which can be booked for birthdays, children’s parties or team building. Rembrandt and Rosé can also travel to homes and businesses to host parties if desired, and has already hosted numerous paint and sip events at downtown businesses such as OneSixteen Bijou Boutique and The Udder Place.

There are regularly scheduled painting classes as well, which can be viewed and booked on the studio’s website. The scheduled painting classes provide a painting idea, but customers can bring their ideas for a painting to Blom or Denton for privately scheduled events. At OneSixteen Bijou’s event, for example, the party host wanted her guests to be able to paint a cow, so Blom and Denton created a cow painting lesson for the group to enjoy.

Blom often takes pictures of things she sees in her everyday life that inspire her to create a new painting lesson. No matter what art is being created, Rembrandt and Rosé places emphasis on individuality and creativity in each painting.

“If someone has colors in their home that they want to use in their painting, they can,” said Blom.

As with any paint and sip studio, where there’s painting, there’s definitely sipping. Rembrandt and Rosé offers soda, coffee and water for customers to drink while creating their art. Painters can bring their own beverages to sip on as well.

With its long painting table and industrial bar stools, Rembrandt and Rosé has the look and feel of an art studio, but the classic furniture and warm paintings on the wall give it a comfortable atmosphere.

“We wanted it to be like a home away from home for people,” said Denton.
