Local military recruits were able to pledge service to their country on America’s Independence Day this year in a ceremony held at New Life Christian Center in Turlock.
A multi-service Oath of Enlistment for the future Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines was given during this outdoor ceremony on Sunday. Mayor Amy Bublak spoke to the new servicemembers as family, friends and community members showed their support.
The oath is given at the military entrance processing station the day the member ships out to basic military training. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, parents and friends were unable to witness their member entering the military. This allowed us to highlight the commitment the individuals are making to the country and allowing the families and friends to be a part of the moment as well, said Air Force Technical Sgt. Antonio LaTorre.
