This week Emanuel Medical Center celebrated National Doctors Day with a breakfast and some goodies to honor its physicians. National Doctors’ Day is traditionally observed on March 30, which is the anniversary of the first day that general anesthesia was used in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842, but Emanuel had the celebration during the week so more physicians could participate. As National Doctors’ Day honors the significance of this advancement in medical care, Emanuel leadership takes pride in the advances in care that its physicians bring to the Turlock communities, such as through robotic surgeries and advanced cancer therapies.
