Man killed in head-on Tuolumne County crash
emergency

Two sustained series injuries, including a 67-year-old Turlock man, and a 54-year-old Ceres man was killed instantly Friday morning in a head-on crash on Highway 120 west of Jamestown.

The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of the next of kin.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m. when the Ceres man was driving a 2014 Buick sedan eastbound on Highway 120 east of La Grange Road. For an unknown reason, the driver drifted across the center line and went head-on into a westbound 2020 Hino tank truck driven by 67-year-old Erich Heinrichs of Turlock. The CHP estimated impact was at approximately 55 miles per hour.

Heinrichs sustained serious injuries as did the passenger in the Buick, Vicki Rasmussen, 66, of Ceres. Heinrichs was rushed by ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora while Rasmussen was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

All the occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
